If a client’s Linux machine display server is Wayland, it may be necessary for them to switch to the X11 (Xorg) display server, so that an operator can access the remote login screen during unattended HelpWire sessions.
On Ubuntu (GDM):
-
Open the config file:
sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf(or/etc/gdm/custom.conf, or/etc/gdm3/daemon.conf) -
Uncomment or add the parameter:
WaylandEnable=false -
Reboot the machine.
On systems with SDDM (KDE):
-
Open the config file:
/etc/sddm.conf -
Edit or add the parameter:
DisplayServer=x11
Note:
CentOS 10 and the latest versions of some other Linux distributions do not support X11. On these systems, it's currently recommended to enable auto-login, disable the lock screen, and turn off the screensaver to allow HelpWire to display the remote login screen.
(Full support for Wayland is planned to be added in one of the future HelpWire updates)
